After a kidney transplant in Egypt, it is usually suggested to stay for at least 30-35 days. Depending on the specific instance and post-surgery issues, the time frame may vary. The doctor will assess the patient's recovery and wound healing during the follow-up visit before approving flying travel.
The patient's transplanted kidney may begin to function the same day as the surgery or may take a few weeks to do so. This may differ depending on how well the given kidney matches the recipient's body. Compared to a kidney from an unrelated donor or a deceased donor, a kidney from a living donor is more likely to start working sooner. This is because a relative's kidney is a better blood and tissue match for the recipient, and the recipient's body will accept the new transplant more quickly.

The Egyptian (MOHP) Ministry of Health and Population created and implemented an accreditation program for primary health centers with the help of the USAID-funded Partnerships for Health Reform Project (1995–2001). The MOHP Quality Improvement Directorate created a set of guidelines for hospital accreditation based on this experience. Government/public sector hospitals, university hospitals, teaching hospitals, and commercial hospitals collaborated to enhance the requirements. This latest edition of the hospital accreditation criteria received technical help from the USAID-funded Partners for Health Reformplus Project. The standards are Egyptian-specific in that they adhere to Egyptian laws, regulations, and culture, but they also meet international standards' core aim. A total of 716 standards were produced and agreed upon, and they were divided into three categories: critical standards (69), core standards (322), and non-core standards (325). A hospital must meet all crucial standards and get an overall score of 85 percent on the core standards to be recognized. The non-core criteria are a more ambitious goal that hospitals should strive towards; current certification requires hospitals to achieve a cumulative score of 40% on the non-core requirements.
